Volunteer opportunity: Partners peer support group

Currently we run regular peer support groups for anyone who has been affected by miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy and molar pregnancy.

Our groups are a welcoming space for everyone impacted by pregnancy loss. However, we recognise that partners (i.e. those in a couple who don’t experience the physical loss) may have their own unique experiences and need a space where they feel acknowledged and supported.

By creating a dedicated partners peer support group, we hope to offer a safe and understanding space where people can share their experiences with others who truly understand.

This group will help partners:

We’re looking for volunteers to help us run this peer support group for partners affected by miscarriage.

You don’t need to have the answers — what matters most is your ability to listen with empathy, be non-judgmental, and create a safe, welcoming space.

As a volunteer, you will:

We will provide training and ongoing support to ensure your volunteer experience with us is positive.

By giving your time, you can make a real difference to people who may otherwise feel isolated and unseen.

How to apply

You can find out more about being a support group volunteer in our volunteer application pack.

We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds and particularly encourage men to apply, as we know male partners are often under-represented when it comes to support available.

If you’d like to apply, please complete and return the application form (pages 8-9 in the pack) to Juanita Charles, Volunteer Lead juanita@miscarriageassociation.org.uk no later than Sunday 19 October, marking your email ‘Partners Support Group Volunteer Application’.

All applications will be reviewed, and shortlisted candidates will be invited to a relaxed, informal interview.

If you’d like to arrange a chat before applying, need this information in another format or have any other accessibility requirements, please let us know by contacting Juanita on the email above.

NB: As part of our commitment to safeguarding, we will carry out a basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check of all individuals in this role. Becoming a volunteer with us may depend on an assessment of any criminal record disclosed.
