The Great North Run
Thank you for your interest in joining our Great North Run team for 2024.
The Great North Run is the biggest Half Marathon event in the world, with over 60,000 runners participating in this must-do event. Starting in Newcastle upon Tyne, runners pass over the iconic Tyne Bridge (with a flypast by the Red Arrows) and on to the finish line some 13.1 miles later in the coastal town of South Shields. This is one of the few UK running events to be shown on the BBC, and so gives us an amazing opportunity to highlight our services and the support we can offer. The 2024 race will be held on Sunday 8th September.
Via the Ballot
The public ballot for the Great North Run 2024 closed in February – the only way to get a place now is via a charity.
If you have been lucky enough to secure a ballot place for this amazing race and would like to support the M.A., we’d love to hear from you! Please contact fundraising@miscarriageassociation.org.uk to express an interest.
Apply for a charity place with the M.A
We still have a very limited number of charity places available – if you would like to be considered for a place please complete the application form below – last year we had more than twice the number of applicants as we had places available, and this year is sure to be just as popular, so please do fill the form in as comprehensively as you can!
All we have asked in the past is that successful applicants pay a £25 registration fee to secure their place, and commit to raising an additional minimum of £375, giving an overall total of £400.00. Last year most of our runners smashed their targets and helped make a huge difference to the services we can offer.
Regardless of whether you have your own place or one of our charity places, we’ll support you throughout your training, fundraising, and event day with:
- a Miscarriage Association t-shirt or running vest
- advice on setting up an online fundraising page
- lots of fundraising hints and tips
- A private Facebook and What’sApp group to virtually meet your teammates before the race
- printed sponsorship forms / balloons / bunting, and anything else you might need!
Our amazing team of runners participate both to raise funds to support our work and to increase awareness of our charity and the services we offer, and we are really grateful for their support in this iconic race.
