Laura made her Miles Matter for the M.A in 2023

Laura joined our Miles that Matter campaign in June and decided to walk four miles a day every day in June.

No one talks about miscarriage. It happens to around 1 in 4 pregnancies yet it’s really not talked about. I wanted to talk about my babies, and raise awareness of how common miscarriage is.

June is a very significant month for Laura. She told us:

In June 22 I suffered my first miscarriage. I felt scared and broken.  It was so hard. Then in September 22 I found out I was pregnant again. I was over the moon.  It was a glimmer of hope after the last few months. My estimated due date was June 23, but unfortunately in November 22 I had my second miscarriage. It was diagnosed as a missed miscarriage. I was so scared and couldn’t believe it had happened again.

Throughout it all The Miscarriage Associated was there for me. They helped me understand my options. What would happen next.  What was happening to my body and that I wasn’t alone.

When I saw that there was a way to raise money and awareness for this amazing charity I knew I wanted to do it, so I decided I would walk a 4 mile walk everyday in June. I raised £330, and I am so grateful to my friends and family for their generosity and support.

No one talks about miscarriage. Its happens to around1 in 4 pregnancies yet it’s not talked about, and I wanted to talk about my babies.  I wanted to raise awareness of how common miscarriage is.  I never thought it would happen to me and then it did.

I’m so proud that I took part in the challenge – it was for a wonderful charity and in memory of my babies who were carried for a moment but loved for a lifetime.
