A Mother’s Poem

I feel a little tug on my heart,

It’s like you’re up in heaven pulling on an invisible string,

Only I know our string is there.

No one sees me as a mummy.

I’m no longer innocent to the pressures of motherhood though.

I looked after you from the moment I knew you.

I worried about you.

I spoke to you.

I read to you.

I sung to you.

I soothed you.

I loved you every moment and still do.

Yes, I did all of these things but I couldn’t protect you.

Am I a mummy too?
