Saff Mitten

Hi, and welcome
One of my specialist areas as a therapist is supporting women through the painful reality of miscarriage and pregnancy loss. I chose to specialise in this work because I have had multiple miscarriages myself, and I know how deeply it can affect you and your life.
If you have had a miscarriage recently, or some time ago, you may be experiencing some of the following:
- A range of emotions including grief, shock, numbness, anger, fear, anxiety, or a sense that your world has shifted in ways you didn’t expect
- Navigating physical recovery or trauma alongside the grief of losing your baby and the future you had imagined
- Feeling as though your loss is invisible or not acknowledged because it happened early, even though it was deeply significant to you
- A sense that life has paused while the world continues around you, leaving you unsure how to move forward
- Feeling dismissed or unsupported because others minimised your loss, struggled to find the right words, or said things that felt insensitive
- The loneliness that can follow when people stop checking in, even though you are still grieving and trying to make sense of what happened
- Self‑blame or worry that your body has failed you, even though it is not your fault
- Fears about the future or doubts about whether you will be able to have a successful pregnancy
- The complexity of being pregnant again after loss – finding it hard to trust the pregnancy or feel safe, while still carrying grief from the previous loss
Miscarriage is experienced in many different ways, and while these are common responses, your experience will be unique to you.
If you see me for therapy, I aim to provide a caring, supportive and deeply empathetic space to help you process what has happened, explore the physical, emotional and mental impact, and slowly find your footing again. For most women, it’s not about “moving on”, but about honouring and acknowledging your grief and integrating this experience into your life at your own pace.
Therapy can’t take the pain away, but it can help you feel supported, understood and less alone.
I also support women who have been through IVF or fertility challenges, including those navigating pregnancy after loss.
About Me
My decision to support women with miscarriage and baby loss is deeply personal. My own fertility journey was long and complex, involving many rounds of IVF and the profound heartbreak of multiple miscarriages. These experiences, alongside my professional training and clinical work, inform the deep empathy and understanding I bring to this area of my practice.
I’m a London-based therapist and offer online therapy to women across the UK via Zoom or Teams.
