Fiona Christiansen

My own experiences of miscarriage have given me a valuable insight into the importance of sensitive, supportive aftercare for those affected. Prior to becoming a counsellor, I provided more than 10 years of voluntary telephone peer support with The Miscarriage Association. I understand that each person’s experience of miscarriage is unique to them, along with the impact on their thoughts and feelings in the days, weeks and months that follow. I was presented with an Outstanding Contribution award by The Miscarriage Association in recognition of my work back then and now, as a qualified counsellor, I remain passionately committed to supporting those impacted by baby loss.
Grief and uncertainty can feel isolating and overwhelming. My counselling experience has repeatedly shown me how warm, empathic connection can prove invaluable during times of bereavement. Through non-directive talking therapy, I provide an opportunity for you to safely explore, express, and acknowledge your emotions and feelings. Having the time and space to process these in confidence can be highly beneficial. Together we can gain a greater insight and understanding of your experiences at a pace that suits you. My caring, compassionate approach acknowledges the uniqueness of every person I have the privilege of working with.
I am a qualified person-centred counsellor, a registered member of the BACP and an accredited registrant of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society. I have undertaken specialist bereavement training, including SANDS training for counsellors supporting bereaved parents. I am listed as an Accredited Professional with the Foundation for Infant Loss after completing their Advanced Practitioner training and their Pregnancy and Infant Loss, Rainbow Baby, and Infertility training.
