Miscarriage Association responds to Government’s renewed Women’s Health Strategy
15th April 2026

The Government has today (Wednesday 15 April) published its renewed Women’s Health Strategy, setting out plans to improve how women are heard and supported across the healthcare system.
The strategy includes proposals to give women a stronger voice in their care, improve access to gynaecology services, and address long-standing concerns around pain management. It also aims to reduce waiting times and ensure women are directed to the right support more quickly.
Vicki Robinson, Miscarriage Association Chief Executive, said:
“We welcome today’s renewed Women’s Health Strategy and the focus on women’s experiences and the commitment to improving how care is delivered across the NHS. It is vital that women are listened to, taken seriously, and offered appropriate support at the right time.
“The strategy includes a commitment to review how support is provided to those experiencing recurrent baby loss. We would welcome the opportunity to contribute to this review and ensure that the experiences of our community help shape future guidance. We believe support should not be dependent on the number of losses someone has experienced. Our research highlights that women need support following any loss, and that a lack of aftercare can have a significant impact on both physical and mental health.”
“The promise to improve pain management for gynaecological procedures is also a positive step. It is important that this includes the management of miscarriage, where people’s experiences of pain are not always recognised or treated consistently. Clear guidance and compassionate care in this area is essential.
Miscarriage, ectopic and molar pregnancy can affect people in different ways, and timely access to clear information, appropriate aftercare and emotional support is essential. Expanding access to support earlier could help improve outcomes and ensure fewer people are left to navigate pregnancy loss alone. Because every loss matters.
Our support services are available to anyone affected by pregnancy loss.
