Baby Loss Awareness Week expected to launch in Westminster today

8th October 2019

Today, Tuesday 8 October, the Baby Loss Awareness Alliance of over 60 charities is launching the campaign ‘Out of sight, out of mind‘, to ask for more psychological support for those who need it following pregnancy loss or the death of a baby.

Our campaign calls on governments at Westminster and the devolved nations to ensure that anyone who needs psychological therapy after pregnancy or baby loss can access it on the NHS and without unduly long waiting times.  This is crucial for those who suffer from mental illnesses such as PTSD, clinical depresssion or other disorders following their loss and whose needs too often remain unmet.

We expect that a Government debate on Baby Loss Awareness Week in the House of Commons will take place later today, launching our campaign and report a day before the official start of the Week.  You can follow the debate live on Parliament TV or catch up later via the same channel.

You can read the full report and find more information about the campaign across the UK here.; and you’ll find a short animation highlighting it here.

Do spread the news, share our links and social media posts and help all of us to improve care for those affected by the loss of a baby in pregnancy, at or soon after birth or in infancy.
