Pregnancy loss and the workplace – a new resource

15th June 2020

While coronavirus may be changing the way the way we work, it is as important as ever that proper support is in place for employees experiencing miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy or molar pregnancy.

However, many employees don’t know their rights and employers rarely have policies in place to help. Managers are not always clear on their responsibilities and colleagues may not know what to say.

The Miscarriage Association’s new resource hub is available to help everyone involved. It contains information and support for employers and managers, HR, employees and colleagues, including videos, personal stories and an online leaflet. All the resources are based on research and consultation with workplaces and staff across the UK.

Most workplaces have staff who have been or may be affected by pregnancy loss and thoughtful support and management can really help them. At a time when it can be an even more distressing and lonely experience to go through pregnancy loss, due to the coronavirus restrictions, a supportive workplace can make a positive difference to how people cope.

My line manager has been amazing. I am so fortunate to have had her support and probably would not be in work now if it wasn’t for her.
