Baby Loss Awareness Week 2025: Highlights and reflections

20th October 2025

Baby loss awareness week 2025 at the Miscarriage Association news post

Baby Loss Awareness Week 2025 was a powerful time of reflection, remembrance and collective action. Across the country, individuals and communities came together to honour the little lives lost too soon, and to raise awareness of the need for understanding and compassionate support after pregnancy loss.

Our first in-person Wave of Light Remembrance Event

This year, we held our first ever in-person Wave of Light Remembrance Event to mark the close of Baby Loss Awareness Week. Individuals, couples and families came together to light candles, share names and reflect in memory of the little lives lost too soon.

It was a meaningful evening of remembrance, connection and support, an opportunity to spend the Wave of Light with a community of people who truly understand. Thank you to everyone who joined us in person and helped make the evening so special.

Online Wave of Light

Our Online Wave of Light brought together people from abound the globe to remember their babies and reflect together from home. Led by our volunteer support group leaders, the hour offered space for quiet remembrance, the reading of babies’ names and messages, and the lighting of candles in unity.

Memory Walk

On Sunday 12 October, supporters across the UK took part in our Memory Walk, walking four miles at 4pm to remember the little lives lost too soon. Together, they created a nationwide moment of reflection and awareness, sharing photos, stories and pins on our community map.

We’re so grateful to everyone who walked in memory. Together, you raised an incredible £17,820, which will be vital in supporting our work.

A milestone for miscarriage bereavement leave

To close the week, we were honoured to host a special event at the House of Commons marking the inclusion of miscarriage bereavement leave in the Employment Rights Bill. Hosted in partnership with Sarah Owen MP, the event brought together campaigners, colleagues and supporters to celebrate this important step forward for workplace rights and compassionate support after pregnancy loss.

A message of thanks

We want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who took part in Baby Loss Awareness Week. Whether by lighting a candle, walking in memory, wearing a pin or sharing our messages online, your support makes a real difference.

It helps us continue providing understanding, comfort and care to anyone affected by pregnancy loss, and to campaign for greater awareness and compassionate support across the UK.
