Miles That Matter 2022
Thank you so much for your interest in joining the Miscarriage Association’s Miles That Matter team for 2022 and thinking about helping us to raise awareness of the issues surrounding pregnancy loss and signposting people to our services during July.
Experts estimate that each year around 250,000 pregnancies end in miscarriage in the UK. That means that around 21,000 pregnancies will be lost in July alone.
We are spending the whole month reflecting on this figure by raising awareness of the issues surrounding pregnancy loss, signposting people to the services we offer and raising funds to ensure that we can continue to be there for those that need us most.
For this campaign we’d like participants to set their own challenge based on this estimated statistic, whether it be running, swimming, cycling, taking part in a family obstacle course, or simply walking with the dog. As long as the challenge is started and completed during the month of July and has a connection to the number 21, supporters can be as creative as they want. This will be the third year we have offered our supporters the opportunity to join our summer virtual event, and it has proved extremely popular!
This year, we are offering active participants a free bespoke Miles That Matter T-shirt to wear to help boost fundraising and awareness during the rest of your challenge. You’ll receive an email from us explaining how to get yours once your page has received more than £10 in donations (the minimum amount to cover our costs). Please don’t forget to check you spam and junk folders in case it lands there!
To join the campaign, please set up a fundraising page here: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/MilesthatMatter2022 and click on the orange “Start Fundraising” button.
We have lots of resources available to you – these include paper sponsor forms, mileage logs, bunting, posters and advice – please click here to access these resources and print off whatever you need.
Every penny you can add to the total will help us to continue to be there to help people through miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy or molar pregnancy, and we really do appreciate your support.
