Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists

The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) is looking for voluntary lay members to join its Consumers’ Forum and actively contribute to its ongoing work. Here’s what they say:

The Forum is a proactive group highlighting women’s consumer health concerns at a national level.  The College is seeking lay members to join its patients Forum and actively contribute to the development of information to improve women’s health and experience of obstetrics and gynaecology services.

The Forum meets four times a year.  It advises the College on patient issues and is represented on several Committees including Council, the governing body of the College.  During the past year, the work has involved initiatives associated with training, communication skills and the development of professional guidelines and associated patient information.

The College recognises diversity within its membership and would welcome applicants from all sections of the community.

Previous committee experience is desirable.  Out-of-pocket expenses incurred as a result of attending meetings will be paid.

We would be pleased to receive applications from members of the Miscarriage Association who may be interested in joining the Forum as a lay member independently.  Closing date for applications is 18 February 2011.
