If you have been through miscarriage or ectopic or molar pregnancy, you’ll know that losing a baby in pregnancy can be a very unhappy, frightening and lonely experience. That’s why the Miscarriage Association exists. Perhaps you’d like to help us provide our support and information services by joining our volunteer team. There are all sorts of different things you can do to help, from raising awareness of the charity to becoming a telephone support volunteer and we’ll be happy to provide more information.
Join our network of telephone support volunteers and offer understanding and a listening ear to others who experience the distress of pregnancy loss.
Set up or help to run a support group where you can help organise and be part of a group of people who share experiences and give and receive mutual support and friendship.
Help to improve hospital and community health services for pregnancy loss, by working through our distance learning pack and becoming a health liaison volunteer.
Consider helping to run The Miscarriage Association by joining our Trustee Board.
The Miscarriage Association is seeking volunteers who can help us provide support and information to those who speak little or no English - or who are just much more comfortable in their mother tongue.
Losing a baby in pregnancy can be very distressing. Even if you know where you can find support and information, it can be very difficult to make that first call and begin to talk to the stranger at the other end of the phone. So you can imagine how much harder it is if you speak little or no English.
We are fortunate in having volunteers/staff who between them speak Welsh, French, German, Spanish, Dutch, Norwegian, Tamil, Malay and Hebrew, but there are a lot of gaps we want to fill, especially Urdu, Punjabi, Bengali, Gujerati, Arabic, Somali and Chinese.
If you speak any languages other than English or you would like to find out more about being a support volunteer, please email Andrea or telephone her on 01924 339207.
