MAKE YOUR MARK WITH ART
Three White Walls Gallery, The Mailbox, Birmingham
8 September to 20 October 2007

The M.A. has been chosen by artist Charlotte Latham as one of four charities to benefit from a unique art installation in Birmingham’s prestige Mailbox shopping arcade.

Make Your Mark With Art involves large pieces of work created over a period of 6 weeks, with the concept set by the artist and the actual work built up over time by the visiting public. The work for The M.A. is called Hand of Hope and will start out as a large white canvas. Each person wishing to make their mark, perhaps in memory of a baby or babies they have lost, places a painted handprint onto the canvas and also makes a donation.

At the end of the exhibition, the canvas is then gifted to The M.A., along with the donations collected.

Charlotte writes:

”Make your mark with art” is a unique idea which I hope will not only capture the hearts of the nation, but also raise more awareness and support for each charity involved.

Each charity I have chosen supports issues which have personally affected my life to date: cancer, miscarriage, infant death and epilepsy. I express my feelings and emotions through my art, which I have often found helps me cope when times are hard - and that is why I came up with this idea.

Not everyone has an ‘outlet’, so to speak and I can’t help but think what better way than to get the public to help create a collection of art work. By making their mark, they will not only show that they have been affected by one (or more) of these issues, but will help raise funds for those who still need the services of these four charities.

We think it’s a wonderful idea and encourage as many of you as possible to visit. You can see some of Charlotte’s beautiful work at www.charlottelatham.co.uk and find information about the gallery at www.makeyourmarkwithart.com.
