The M.A. is taking part in this year’s Great British Duck Race – a wonderful fun event that benefits a whole range of UK charities. In 2007 the Great British Duck Race raced 165,000 yellow plastic ducks down the River Thames and raised over £100,000 for 440 UK charities.
This year they are planning to make it bigger and better. On Sunday 31 August they are hoping to have 250,000 ducks taking to water at Molesey Lock near Hampton Court Palace in Surrey. The ducks are expected to take between 2 to 3 hours to reach the finish 1 kilometre away – though whether that depends on the weather or their level of fitness, we don’t quite know…
Adopt a duck for a chance to win £10,000…
It costs just £2 to adopt a duck and there are 30 top prizes – the first prize is £10,000! Your £2 includes a donation to the GBDR’s three lead charities and we hope you will choose to make an additional donation to The M.A. at the same time.
You can find out more and adopt a duck online at www.thegreatbritishduckrace.co.uk, or you can contact the event organisers by post at The Great British Duck Race, Suite 3, The Old Railway Station, Oswald Road, Oswestry SY11 1RE; by phone on 01691 680468; or by e-mail at sabina@thegreatbritishduckrace.co.uk
Whether you go to follow your duck’s progress in person or wait with bated breath to see how your duck fared, we wish you luck!
